The Greenfield Planning Board has approved the site plan for the new Aldi’s grocery store that is set to be built behind the McDonald’s on the Mohawk Trail. One of the major concerns expressed by the community is the impact to traffic in an area with frequent accidents, however the site planners are not anticipating a significant impact as traffic improvements such as additional signals will be part of the new construction. Another concern are the potential environmental impacts of the almost 20,000 square foot building. The site plan will include a grass swale low-impact technique, high efficiency construction, and solar-ready design.
